The importance of audio cannot be understated when users are seeking the most visceral experience possible when it comes to watching movies, listening to music, or playing video games. In order to ensure a smooth and enjoyable session, only the most pristine and reliable headphones are acceptable. There are hundreds of alternatives available for purchase on the internet, but few can boast almost universal praise while backing it up with effortless execution. The SteelSeries Siberia 800 Wireless Gaming Headset has generated a ton of buzz from its hundreds of reviews, but what is it about this particular device that has people talking?
SteelSeries Siberia 800 Review
For starters, the Siberia 800 is brimming with features. The next generation speaker thrives in its ability to showcase supreme clarity and detail in sound, and the superior highs contribute to unmatched low bass. There is even ‘sound share,’ which allows you and a friend to both enjoy the audio simultaneously. Unlimited play has never been easier with two hot-swappable Li-ion batteries.
With sound, immersion is key, and the Siberia 800 addresses this beautifully with closed back ear cups to let users fully indulge in the experience. The directional mic is retractable, and the mute button has a light indicator so you always know where you stand. Control of sound has never been more efficient, as the click wheel allows you to manipulate settings to your preferences right on the ear cup. Equipped with Dolby virtual 7.1 surround sound and compatible with Mac, PC, Playstations and Xbox, the 800 produces a one of a kind audio performance that is the zenith in headset technology.
Another form of luxury in the Siberia 800 headset is found in its style. With robust headband padding and memory foam ear cushions, the Steel Series’ focus on comfort takes a backseat to no one. A classic style and feel for avid gamers, the 800 matches technology with personality and fits in beautifully with all other computer accessories. Without a doubt the Siberia makes users feel right at home with its signature appearance.
For Competitive Gamers?
SteelSeries advertises the Siberia 800 as being “lag free” whereas their competitors are still trying to find ways to reduce any interference or lagging. I’m not a huge fan of this kind of “advertisement talk” but to be completely honest with you I tried taking turns with both the Siberia 800’s and my trusted HyperX Cloud 2’s and I could not tell a difference in terms of lag. Therefore whatever black magic they have done with this pair of headphones I’m well convinced.
The only downside I could think of (and this is really splitting hairs) is the fact that they are… wireless. What I mean by this is the fact that you have to take care that you have life on the batteries. Don’t get me wrong here – the 20 hour battery life of the hot-swappable Li-ion batteries is more than enough for quite literally everyone but it’s just an additional task you have to add to your daily routine. Having said that, the feature of being wireless is also a blessing. Never ever before have I thought about the luxury of standing up in the middle of the match to quickly do something like get a glass of water without lifting off your headphones but once you get used to it there’s no going back to being wired again. Don’t even get me started on the usability on the couch…
Unmatched in its crystal clear delivery of sound, the Siberia 800 Wireless Gaming Headset embraces the history of gaming while providing the appropriate technology for the future. With a flurry of positive reviews, the 800’s reliability is spoken by its users. A smart and practical design, the headset represents the inevitable solution to audio immersion for gamers of the past and present. If the price tag is too much for you, have a look at HyperX Cloud Flight review.
