A little background for this review can be found from our Logitech G710+ Review, and it goes as follows:

“My first touch with mechanical keyboards was Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless, which I’ve referred as the Mercedes of keyboards to my friends who always keep asking me why I’d put so much money into a keyboard that looks like it costs 10 dollars. The thing with Filco is that it has no fancy features or design – only the absolute essentials, but the built-in quality is top of the line and the keyboard will serve me for a good part of the rest of my life. Thinking of the hours I spend using the keyboard it’s hardly an investment.”

The Majestouch-2 is still my weapon of choice in mechanical keyboards, even if it isn’t the best CS:GO keyboard out there.

Design and Features

Filco Majestouch 2

Majestouch-2 is available as a full size and a tenkeyless (Filco Majestouch-2 TKL ) model, the latter meaning that it has no numpad. The design is pretty much as minimal as it gets. The only hints that it is a technical device are the LEDs on the upper right corner (for caps lock, scroll lock and num lock in the regular version).

Personally I am a huge fan of the design but this is purely personal preference – if you want your keyboard to look like a night club then the Filco is definitely not your thing.

Filco Majestouch 2 TKL

Feature-wise it is as stripped as it is design-wise – nothing but the essentials. Majestouch-2 is a keyboard designed for typing, but for me it delivers everything I need when I play CS:GO. I have my buy binds on arrow keys and that’s pretty much everything I need – keep it simple.

Filco Majestouch 2 size

Filco Majestouch-2 size compared to Motorola Moto 4G (4,5″ display). The measurements are:

  • 17.3 x 5.4 x 1.4 inches for the full size model
  • 14 x 5.3 x 1.3 inches for the tenkeyless model

The tenkeyless version has been a godsend for me whenever I have been to a home LAN with friends: it is so small that I never have problems fitting in when the room is cramped.

The Feel and Sound

Filco Majestouch 2 size Cherry MX Brown

I got my keyboard with the Cherry MX Brown switches, which I find being a perfect balance for both writing and playing. They are also the most popular choice of tactile, non-clicky switches.

They feel just perfect for my taste and describing it any further would make me sound like a cheesy poet so I will not go that far. Let’s just say that whenever I am away from my Majestouch and have to use my laptop, coming back to it feels fabulous every single time.

Recommended: for writers and gamers who don’t need additional keys

Not recommended: for gamers who are used to multiple programmable keys and multimedia keys
